Storm Reaches Semis at the Columbia 15/16 Open

Columbia Volleyball Club’s 15 Storm reached the semi-finals of the Columbia 15/16’s Invitational Open before falling to Columbia Volleyball Club’s 16 Lightning at the Volleyball House on May 9, 2010.

Storm Wins AAU Middle Atlantic Grand Prix!

Storm finished First in the 15U Division of the AAU 2010 Middle Atlantic Girl's Grand Prix Championships, April 10th & 11th at Albright College in Reading, PA.


Storm defeated CJVA Black Venom 32-34, 25-15, 16-14 to win the 2010 AAU Middle Atlantic Grand Prix Tournament in Reading, PA over the weekend of April 10 - 11, 2010. The Storm won 17 of 19 sets in the two-day tournament.

Storm takes Silver!

Storm took the Silver Medal at the KRVA Spring Fling 15's in Hanover, PA.

The Columbia Storm won all 12 of their preliminary sets on the way to a second place finish at the Spring Fling in Hanover, PA on March 21, 2010.

Storm Finishes Third at Columbia 15 Invitational

The Columbia Storm lost in the semi-finals and finished third at the Columbia 15 Invitational on March 7, 2010 at the Volleyball House.

DVA won a spirited semi-final match 25-22 and 25-21 on their way to claiming the title. The Storm rallied from an early 8-0 deficit to pull within 15-14 behind the defensive play of Amanda Kupiec and Maddie Chervenak. Both recorded four digs in the set. Anna Bella Sicilia paced the offense with two kills in the first set. The set went back and forth with DVA prevailing 25-22. The second set saw the Storm jump out to a 10-4 lead. However, DVA’s fine defensive play kept the Storm at bay and DVA prevailed 25-21.

Storm Takes Bronze Bracket at Capitol Hill Classic

The CVC Storm rallied to take the Bronze Bracket at the Capitol Hill Classic the weekend of February 13-15, 2010 at the Washington D.C. Convention Center.

After dropping the first set 25-12, the Storm rallied to defeat Valley Forge 15 Blue to claim the Bronze Bracket. Down 18-14 in the second set, Chelsea Owensby led a 5-0 run to give the Storm a 19-18 lead on their way to a 25-21 victory to even the match and one set each. The set saw Tish Carmona and Maddie Chervenak lead the defense with two digs each. Jordan Lawson led the offense with three kills. Carmona led the way in the third and deciding set with two digs and two aces, including an ace on match point.

Storm Place 3rd at Virginia Elite 15/16 Tournament

The Columbia Volley Club 15 National Team placed 3rd in the Virginia Elite 15/16 Tournament @ The Maderia School in McLean, Virginia on Sunday, January 24th.

The Storm played very well in the semi-finals before falling to the VA Elite 16 National Team 25-20 and 25-19. A 4-0 service run by Amanda Kupiec staked the Storm to an 11-7 lead in the first set. The defensive play of Amanda Kupiec, Maddie Chervenak and Amanda Kupiec (2 digs) kept the older and much taller opponent at bay for most of the set. The offense was paced by Amanda Kupiec (2 kills), Tish Camona (1 kill) and Lexi White-Torruellas (1 kill). VA Elite went on a 6-0 run to take a 23-16 lead on their way to a first set victory. The Storm started quickly in the second set taking a 7-4 lead behind the serving of Allison Kupiec (2 aces). Later in the set, Jordan Lawson’s kill pulled the Storm within 15-13 before VA Elite went on a 6-0 run to take control of the second set and the match. Sarah Przybyla (2 kills) and Rebecca Pierce (1 kill) led the offense with assists from Chelsea Owensby who recorded 3 assists.
