Canaries Host Columbia 12 Invitational

The Canaries hosted the Columbia 12 Invitational on March 7, 2010 at the Volleyball House.

The day started with the Canaries splitting the first two sets with the Charles County Alley Cats, losing the first set 25-19 and winning the second set 25-15. Catie Chervenak paced the Canaries in the first set providing a 9-0 service run which included one ace and one kill. Kaitlin Donovan (3 aces) provided a 7-0 service run in the second set to give the Canaries a 16-8 lead. Valen Johnson (2 aces) added one kill during Donovan’s run. Rachel Mathew finished off the set with a 5-0 service run which included an ace at set point.

The Canaries split two sets with Central Delaware Crazy 8s winning the first 25-19 before falling 25-22 in the second. Rebecca Chamblee led the defense with two digs. Carly Smith and Leigh Jackson provided good service in the first set win.

The Canaries also received fine play from Rebecca Kartak, Taylor Miguelino, Brianna Myers, and Shelby Patrick throughout the day.
