The Lightning took to the air and traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to play in the Big South Qualifier at the Georgia World Congress Center.
After great success in Richmond and Washington this season, this was the third of five three-day tournaments and the first of two Qualifiers scheduled for the Lightning. The 16 Club division was the largest they’ve seen to date with 136 teams from as far away as California and almost everywhere in between. Success was the name of the day as the first two days saw only one match loss in pool play. Redemption was in the cards when they played a team from the west coast and won in two games which kept the Lightning in the Gold bracket for Sunday. Never unexciting, Sunday came and went with its share of controversy, not the least of which were frustrating calls, which ended the day earlier than expected. Regardless of the outcome and coming up a little short, the girls and the families in attendance had a fantastic time and agreed this would be a tournament to keep on the books. A great town, a great venue and great competition – what more could they want? Stay tuned! The NEQ and the 16 Open division are just a week away!
