Columbia Volleyball Club
(columbiavolleyballclub.org) is a
not‑for‑profit organization of Washington‑Baltimore‑Annapolis area
volleyball enthusiasts including student athletes, coaches, referees,
adult helpers and parents from more than 90 families. Participating
student‑athletes are girls ages 10 to 18. While based in Columbia,
Maryland, we typically have players from more than a dozen high
schools and several middle and elementary schools in Anne Arundel,
Baltimore, Carroll, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's counties
in Maryland.
Columbia
Volleyball Club was founded in 1985 with 20 players and a single
coach. During 2004 the Club fielded nine teams with over 90
players, 21 coaches and several dozen actively involved parents. The
Club and student‑athletes belong to and are sanctioned by USA
Volleyball (USAV), a national association.
The Club's
mission for the older age groups is to improve the player's skills
and knowledge of the game through competition that far surpasses the
level of high school play in our area. The mission is also to instill
values of team play, individual discipline and work habits which
will serve them well in any future endeavor. For those
student‑athletes who have the academic and volleyball skills, and the
desire and dedication to play in college, the Club also assists
players seeking scholarship opportunities.
