The Columbia Eclipse won a silver medal in the MVSA Invitational 17’s Volleyball Tournament on March 5, 2006. The Eclipse won 6 straight games and then defeated Hub City Chaos in the semifinals, overcoming an 8-12 deficit in the third game to win the match 16-14. In the finals, the Eclipse and MVSA Blizzard split the first two games, each winning one at 25-20. MVSA came out on top, 15-9 in the hard fought third game. Coaches Ken McLaughlin & Mike Campbell were pleased with the consistent serving by Linday Stielper, Christina Eichelman (5 Aces), Anna Wiggs (6 Aces) and Rachel Burke with 14 aces as well as by fantastic net play by Eichelman (7 blocks) and Julia Brostrom (8 blocks.) Sarah Vorce played Libero all day providing good passes to set up the offense. Sarah also had two kills on back row attacks. Lindsay and Anna kept the opponents guessing with good sets so that the Eclipse presented a well balanced offense led by Kasey Quinn with 25 kills, Christina Eichelman with13, Linda Murphy and Anna Wiggs with 12 each, followed by Rachel Burke with 7, Julia Brostrom with 6 and Kristan Hawkins & Samantha Byrd with 5 each.
