COACH PHIL LAQUINTA

Coach Phil (A Commander on Active Duty with the U. S. Navy) has played and coached competitive volleyball for the past 30-years. Past teams have included:

 

Commander, Naval Forces Japan, Naval Forces Southern Command, Naval Forces Philippines, Military District Washington D.C., Naval Forces Europe, NSF Diego Garcia and U. S. Pacific Command, Hawaii. He has also represented the U. S. Navy on various All-Service/Area Teams.

 

His coaching duties included teams at Military District Washington D.C., Naval Station Rota. Spain, Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia and U. S. Pacific Command, Hawaii. Team accomplishments include three straight years as Military District Washington Champions, 2nd place in the 1996/1997 Western Pacific All Forces Championship and three years as the Military District Hawaii Island Champions.

 

Past USAV coaching duties include Head Coach for the Memphis Metro 15 Local Team for the 2003 season and Head Coach of the Memphis Metro 16 Travel Team for the 2004 and 2005 season. He also coached at the High School level as the Hutchinson School for Girls Memphis, Tennessee Freshman Volleyball coach and Junior Varsity/Varsity Assistant Coach for the 2004 and 2005 season.  He is presently the coach of the Columbia Lighting 16 National Team.
